It’s the beginning of a brand new week. There is potential in each new day. How will you proceed? Will you harness the potential and bend it to your will or will you let it go to waste?

A proven way to get what you want out of life is to write down your goals. It can be overwhelming to think about because the possibilities are endless. Trying to boil the ocean is impossible so let’s scoop out a small amount and boil it instead.

How?

Think about your general goals and then break it down into manageable pieces.

Most people want to
– Be rich
– Travel
– Be healthy
– Go to/ finish school
– Get a new car
– Buy a house
– Get married
– Start a business

These are all general goals most people have. They are vague and have no date attached. In essence, they are dreams. Let’s get specific about these dreams and tailor them to you.

1. List your general goals.
Lose weight

This is where most people start, stop or get stuck. It’s okay for now but we are going to go further. For right now just get it written down on paper.

2. What do you want to accomplish with the dreams you’ve written? (Write one line sentences)
Fit in size 8 dress

Take your goals and think a little deeper about what you want to accomplish. When you can get specific you can move on to the next step. My example starts with the goal of losing weight. That is too general. In step two I say I want to fit in a size 8 dress. For some, that may seem vague too but getting in a dress size feels better and more manageable than saying I will lose 50 pounds. Losing that much weight feels overwhelming, but getting into a specific size feels like i can do it.

3. When do you want to finish the goal? This next step moves you into defining when you want to reach the more specified goal. Setting a date or time period takes the goal to the next level. It’s sexy to know when you see this goal become a reality. It is about doing what you said you would do and being proud of the accomplishment. Some dates move depending on what is happening. That’s okay. Just stay on track even if you have to push the date out.

4. What steps do you need to take? What is the process? Do the research if needed so you know the steps you need to take to reach your sexy goal. Use the K.I.S.S. method on this part. The less complicated the better for you. Here is my example of the steps I will take to lose weight.
Eat healthier low carb high protein meals and walk 30 minutes daily

5. Combine questions 2-4 in an “I am” statement. The final step in creating your sexy good goal is to state in the present tense what your goal is. You are not saying what you wish to do, will do, or hope to do. You are stating what you are. Seems strange but when you make “I am” statements you “trick” your mind into believing the goal is already accomplished. Life follows what you believe. Look at the template at the end of this article then download the worksheet so you can write you own goals.
I am a size 8 by this summer because I eat low carb high protein meals and walk 30 minutes every day.

Now you have a goal you can reach because it is specific and had a date. You know what you are working towards when you will accomplish it, and the end results.

Do this for all your dreams. There are a few logical steps you must take to reach the ultimate goal you have so do your research, ask questions, take action.

Your goal statement should look like this:

I am/have _____________ by _____________ because I __________ and ___________ every ____________.

Now you have created your own sexy good goals. Now put them where you can see them on a daily basis. Stick them on your bathroom mirror, on the back of your door, in your car, on your computer screen. You can even make it your screensaver! No matter where you put your goals, make sure you read it each day and think about it before you go to sleep at night. You will soon see that your goals are becoming reality.
